There are plenty of freeware editors for PHP. I like Komodo IDE, Context Editor and the best one is Notepad++. You can find a very nice PHP editors collection in this site free-php-editor.com

Yea, it’s a big ass java IDE. Sometimes handy offcourse, but for quick editing i use the free PsPad (http://www.pspad.com). It also includes ftp so editing direct on your FTP server is really handy.. also has a lot of conversion tools to help. And of course there is VIM ;)

What about htmlkit? with its php plugins it can be a really free php ide, with preview in a internal browser, very fast

You know, as good as Eclipse PHP is, I always seem to find myself back using EditPlus. Really, what do I need a full Java based IDE when I got the king. It's a free trial, give it a shot..

I think i found it, eclipse really is awesome. I just love how it is so intuitive when you are coding. I’m used to dreamweaver and it sucks at stuff like that. Eclipse is very similar to visual studio which is awesome
